17th INVESTITURE CEREMONY

|John F. Kennedy once said ‘Leadership & Learning are indispensable to one another. The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves, for leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality. A leader is not only a dealer in hope but also a visionary, a dreamer, an innovator, a mentor, an educator, an effective communicator and a facilitator. It has always been a constant endeavour at Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Vasundhara to nurture and mould such leaders who will pioneer their country and the world to newer heights of peace, progress and prosperity in the years to come.
The much awaited Investiture ceremony to elect the student council was held in the school. It was not just a formal announcement of giving away the portfolios and responsibilities to the newly elected school council but also the belief that these young and passionate leaders would influence and inspire their peers to create more leaders. The ceremony unfurled itself with the prayer and invocation song, followed by the announcement of the newly appointed school council who were administered the oath of office by the school Principal.

The selection of these students was based on their academic performance, creative abilities and their conduct during the overnight leadership camp where they were marked for their organisational and leadership skills.
In her address, the school Principal, Dr. Ms. Jaishree Bhargava, urged the flag bearers who donned the mantle of responsibility of the school ambassadors to have “vision, foresight and passion” for it is the duty of a leader to “inspire others to dream more, work more, learn more, do more and become more.”
10th Annual Peer Educators’ Program Phase II
With the aim of enabling adolescents understand life skills more accurately; DPSG Vasundhara organized the 10th Inter-School Life Skills Enrichment Program for Adolescents Phase II, in collaboration with Expressions India on 9th December, 2016.
15 Schools and more than 100 students participated in the annual event which helps today’s youth put forward their invaluable visions. This year’s theme was Life Skills – a path to holistic development. Students from various schools shared their experience of implementing the plans discussed in Phase -I of the Peer Educators’ Programme. They came out with their presentations and expressed their views. This year’s chief guests were – Mr. Pankaj Kumar and Ms. Daya Pant. Pankaj Kumar sir shared his ideas on adolescent issues. Daya Pant ma’am conducted an interactive session, discussing the problems that children face at this age and also giving their solutions. They also appreciated the students for their efforts and hard-work. They were highly impressed with the schools’ efforts to make the students aware, responsible and empowered.
The school’s principal, Mr. Dharmendra Goyal, also came forward and congratulated the participating and the organizing teams for their efforts as well as the success of the event.
Copa Euphoria 2016
Keeping in view of the overall development of the children, DPSGV always conducts various extracurricular and sports activities throughout the year. This year too DPSGV had conducted a football tournament — Copa Euphoria 2016 with great fervour and enthusiasm.
It was a 5 day tournament from 17 – 21 Oct. in which 26 schools participated. The Opening Ceremony was held in style with the chief guest Mr. Shyam Narayan Yadav, sports official of Sports and Youth Affairs U.P Government gracing the occasion. He declared the meet open with his motivational speech. Mr. Shyam Narayan Yadav along with Principal Mr. Dharmendra Goyal wished luck to all the participating teams. A wonderful Yoga performance was presented by the little DPSGVites at the opening ceremony.
All the schools played to the best of their ability. Eventually the two teams who could make it out to the finals were R. S Junior Delhi and Amity International School Vasundhara. The final match was held on 21 October with R.S Junior Delhi emerging as winners and Amity International School Vasundhara as runners up. Heartiest Congratulations to the teams!
The chief guest Mr. Anaba Ebere who has worked as senior coach with Phoenix Football Academy Goa, and Bankura Football club Kolkata league gave away the prizes. Terrific Taekwondo was performed by the little ones of DPSGV. Along with the Winners’ and Runners’ up trophy other prizes were also given to the students according to their performance in the tournament. Vvandit Saproo of DPSGV bagged the award for the top scorer, the best goalkeeper award was collected by Arya Sinha of DPSGV. The promotional player award was taken by Kris from R.S Junior Delhi. Aditya Dutta of Amity International School was awarded as the player of the tournament.

The sixth inter-school photography salon had a successful takeoff on August 19, 2016 at Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Vasundhara. Coinciding with the World Photography Day, Paridarshika was launched on August 19, 2011, with an aim to groom the photography enthusiasts, mentor them on how to participate in a photography salon and sensitise them about the importance of World Photography Day by remembering the valuable contribution of French artist and chemist Louis J M Daguerre, the inventor of photography. The Chief Guest for this prestigious event was Mr. Akashendu Das, popularly known as Akash Das, a groundbreaking figure in the Indian Advertisement Industry, who, with innumerable commendations and prestigious awards to his credit, has pioneered the art of visual communication and photography. In his interactive session with the participants, he asserted that many pictures turn out to be limp translations of the known world instead of vital objects which create an intrinsic world of their own and that there is a vast difference between “taking a picture and making a photograph.” Mr. Das not only appreciated the creativity, dedication, passion and endeavour of the young participants but also gave them handy tips on how to improvise their photography techniques. For a two round competition in 6 categories, the event witnessed a tough competition within the 15 participating schools that qualified for the final round. Shrey Goyal of DPSGV was adjudged the winner of the event while Adrit Panday bagged the runner-up trophy. Certificates of Commendation and the Best Photographer Award were also given in each of the 6 categories, namely, Nature, Macro, Still Life / Table-top, Candid, Travel and Portrait. In his address, the school Principal, Mr. Dharmendra Goyal, lauded the efforts of the talented participants and urged them to stay away from the rat race, be skilled and explore the unexploited field of alternative careers. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Anil Tiwari, who heads the Paridarshika Club at school.
In view of the Digital India Initiative taken by our Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, DPSGV invigorated today’s youth by stimulating their brains in the web of intricacies by conducting ‘10th Technovation – 2016’ on 10th July 2016. It was an initiative to transform young minds into digital empowered society and knowledge economy. It is a platform to exhibit technical skills, collaborative effort, which initiated a thinking process among children. The program was presided by Dr. Peeyush Tewari, Ph. D (Applied Mathematics). He is an Associate Professor at BIT MESRA RANCHI, Noida.
The theme ranged from Futuristic Gizmos, Digital citizenship, which required a layer of believability based on science. Digital citizenship which required students to work on the lines of Cyber safety. The event was also glorified with software developer, Mr. Gaurav Mittal who has a 9 yrs experience at Indian Information Technology and services and Ms. Rupanshi Mehra, Software Engineer at Sopra Steria. The other themes were ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, ‘Combat Cybercrime’, E- Governance, Science Kranti and E Kranti. The event witnessed a turnout of eminent guests like Ms. Divina Nihalani, Business Development Analyst at Cognizant, Mr. Ankut Gupta, Sr. Software Designer, Noida, Ms. Divya Kumar Singh, Engineer at Sopra india Pvt. Ltd. & Mr. Priya Ranjan, Asst. Proffessor (IT).
The event saw 240 students from 32 schools competing in various events for the coveted trophies. The Overall Winner’s trophy of the event went to ‘Vishwa Bharti Public School, Noida & the Runners Up trophy went to Amity International School, Vasundhara.
Mr. Dharmendra Goyal, Principal DPSGV encouraged the students and was overwhelmed to see the new emerging technocrats in the society.
INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
The International Yoga Day is a global health awareness day initiated on the world panorama by India. Healthy Living is a lifestyle which should be a practice. Keeping the legacy of partnership in Education and involving everyone to reap the maximum for the young stakeholders, Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Vasundhara celebrated ‘International Yoga Day at DPSGV grounds with a refreshing Yoga session on 21st June 2016.
10th ANNUAL PEER EDUCATOR’s PROGRAM (Phase-I_)
With the aim of enabling adolescents understand life skills more accurately; DPSG Vasundhara organized the 10th Inter-School Life Skills Enrichment Program for Adolescents Phase I, in collaboration with Expressions India on 12th and 13th of April 2016.
23 Schools and more than 120 students participated in the annual event which helps today’s youth put forward their invaluable vision. This year’s theme was Life Skills – A path to Holistic Development. Students came together and indulged themselves in an assortment of role-plays, effective group discussions, creative poster making, session planning and well-organized presentations. Through various other activities, the students were trained to deal with pressure situations more calmly, understanding them deeply first. This year’s chief guest was Ms. Harvinder Sodhi Saraswat, and Guests of Honours were Ms. Reena Pundhir, Ms. Mohini Sampson and Ms. Ishani Tripathi. They shared their ideas on Stress management, Rationalization, Decision Making and Peer Pressure and appreciated the students for their efforts and hard-work. They were highly impressed with the schools’ efforts to make the students aware, responsible and empowered.
The school’s Principal, Mr. Dharmendra Goyal, also came forward and congratulated the participating schools as well as the organizing teams for their efforts as well as for the success of the event.
WORLD HEALTH DAY
The World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year. Healthy Living is a lifestyle which should be a practice. Keeping the legacy of partnership in Education and involving community to reap the maximum for the young stakeholders, Delhi Public School Ghaziabad Vasundhara celebrated ‘World Health Day’ at DPSGV grounds with a refreshing Yoga and Meditation session on 7th April 2016. More than 500 students, their parents and teachers participated in it. The students enjoyed gliding happily through warm up, yogic exercises, suryanamaskar which culminated into meditation. The participants felt rejuvenated and energetic and were left wanting for more. Their broad smiles unfolded the whole environment. Amidst a lot of cheer and happy faces the program came to an end with honourable Principal sir, Mr. Dharmendra Goyal thanking the parent fraternity for having accepted the invite and for their turnout and reiterating the fact that let’s make health a practice.
ONLINE LAB WORKSHOP
DPSGV organized a workshop on Online Lab Resources material in collaboration with CBSE and Amrita University, Kerala. Dr. Rajendra Singh, an eminent scientist and associate director of DRDO inaugurated the event. Near about 100 teachers from various schools of Delhi and NCR attended the workshop.
The objective of the workshop was to acquaint and equip the teachers with virtual lab experimentation. These virtual labs will facilitate the process of experiments and will make them hassle free both for the teachers and the students.
